The Tide Is High....

I'll start off by saying that this week's post was meant to be a part 2 of this blog post, however, a little thing called the tide scuppered my plans somewhat. To add some excitement to this post, please drink for every time I mention the words high tide, you'll be on the floor in minutes!

You see, I had plans of having a bit of a lazy Sunday morning, wake up slow, drink some coffee, toast some bread, bliss! My dad was going to come over and give me a hand with finishing off the back room as well. Unfortunately, mother nature had other plans, those plans were a high tide and some chilly weather.

I woke up and noticed I had no power on the boat, strange I thought, as I couldn't recall leaving anything that would blow the electrics on overnight. Anyway, I was a woman on a mission as no power meant no Wifi, how could I possibly survive? I also can't function in the morning without coffee and boiling the kettle was out of the question. As I walked out of my room and towards the stern of the boat I found out why I had no electrics, please see the image below.

See all that water? Yeah, that's not usually there! That amount of water is never a good mix with electrics. High winds from the day before are probably the likely cause for such a high tide, a lot of people at the marina had never seen it this high before.

Anyway, the tide was high and I was barely holding on as more minutes were ticking by without the sweet nectar of caffeine flowing through my body. I dug out my wellies (boy was I glad I took the advice from the locals and bought a pair) and elegantly (it was anything but elegant) climbed off the boat and started my journey towards the murky depths to where the fuse box was (it's like 10 steps away, you can literally see it in the corner in the photo above) I hadn't tripped the electrics so I made my way to the office to check the main switch (this story really isn't very interesting, is it?) Anyway, all you need to know is that the electrics had pretty much tripped throughout the marina because of the high tide.

We were going to have to wait this one out, so, I made my way back to the boat and boiled some water on the hob for a coffee. I don't know why I decided to take a picture of this but for some reason, I decided to send it to my friends who were probably already fed up with me talking about the high tide. Plus, it's content for the blog right?!

With a coffee in hand, I decided to take advantage of not having any internet and get outside to film the sunrise (you can watch this below if you're one, fascinated with sunrises like myself or two, fascinated with the high tide, again, like myself)

It wasn't long before the guys at the marina were out to make sure the boats were ok and to see whether they could get the electrics back on. During this time I was kindly made copious amounts of coffee which was greatly appreciated. At around 10.30/11ish the tide was starting to go back out and they managed to get the electrics back on. Woohoo, I had internet baby!

A bit of an eventful morning but it wasn't as bad as you might be thinking. The sun was out, I had coffee, and people to natter with. That's it for today, are you drunk yet? The tide is supposed to be fairly high most of the week so that will be interesting! Anyway, please enjoy the video below.

Time for my music recommendation. You may be thinking that I wouldn't be so cheesy as to choose the most obvious song for this post, you're wrong! This is Blondie - The Tide Is High. Blondie are one of my faves anyway so they were going to end up as a music recommendation at some point.
