Blue sinks are in fashion

This weeks post is going to be a little bit different compared to my previous ones because, today marked the day that the blue sink at the stern of the boat was removed!

Yes, that's right, the blue sink that I had been using to store crusty old paint brushes, an empty container of screen wash, and a plant that died a slow and painful death (RIP) is gone. Where do I store this stuff now?! The goal for today was to get the sink out, try and fit a table top freezer into a space that was previously occupied by drawers, and to sort the electrics out on the port side of the boat. My dad came over to give me a hand (he did all the hard work, I supervised) and we set to work. I won't go into too much detail as I recorded the majority of the work which you can see below (I did have to put music over the top so you can't hear my dad swearing)

The weather was beautiful today so, whilst we were busy working, I decided to open every window and pull the sunroof (is it called a sunroof?) back in the front room to the get some fresh air circulating through the boat. What you don't see in the video is my dad sorting the electrics out so, not only are they a lot more practical for where the freezer is, but they look a lot better as well. What you also don't see in the video is me struggling to get onto the roof when we decided to have lunch up there!

What's left to do in this space?

  • Cap the pipe and make it less imposing in this space

  • Put some shelves up where the sink was and below it too

  • Place some worktop on the top

  • Close off the section next to the freezer

  • Sand down and paint the wood

  • Lay the floor

So not much! But keep your eyes peeled for a part 2 to the video above and a potential second post about the process of doing up the back room.

Today, I also welcomed a few new additions to the boat, Stevie and Dianne, the draft excluders! My very talented mum made these for me to place in front of the doors within the boat as I was experiencing a lot of cold air getting underneath the doors.

A bit of a short one today but hopefully an enjoyable one (Please don't tell me if you didn't enjoy it) This section at the back is probably the last major project inside the boat left to do which is a nice feeling if I'm honest.

I'll leave you with a couple of images of how the back room is looking so far. I won't lie to you, it's looking like a bit of a jungle with all the plants but, all of me secretly loves it like that!

Next week I thought I'd put together a post about the frequently asked questions I get whenever I tell people about the boat. But, as always, I like to leave you with my music recommendation! I didn't really know what to choose for this week but whilst we were working today, I had playing a playlist I creatively named 'Boat'. On this playlist, is this absolute banger by Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World
